Wayne Walker

Wayne Walker graduated from Galveston Ball High School and was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies but chose to attend Sam Houston State University on a baseball scholarship. He later served as a Fire Protection and Crash Rescue Specialist in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.

After his military service, Wayne had a distinguished 45-year career in firefighting, including roles with the Houston Fire Department, Conroe Fire Department, and the final 30 years at The Woodlands Fire Department, where he retired as Deputy Chief in 2016. Because of his love for the fire service, he developed occupational hazards from this career and developed Cancer, which ultimately took his life prematurely. His legacy as a dedicated firefighter and leader is cherished by his community.

Outside of firefighting, Wayne loved baseball, hunting, fishing, golfing, and above all, spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband to Kendall, father to Casey and Kyle, and an active mentor in the lives of many young athletes. Wayne was known for his strong yet gentle nature, embodying the values of integrity, service, and patriotism. He is deeply missed by his family, friends, and firefighter family, but his legacy of service, love, and faith lives on.
